What is The Caroline Thrifty?

The Caroline Thrifty is a 9x12 postcard containing a newspaper front and 16 ad spots in the back, allowing business owners to promote their products and services for a fraction of the cost of a single postcard. The postcard is sent to all mailable addresses in Denton, MD, and surrounding areas to ensure we reach as close to 5,000 homes as possible.

The Caroline Thrifty works differently. One side contains useful content in a familiar newspaper format. The other side features businesses who made that content possible. By the time someone gets to the ad side, they're already paying attention.

When and where to is the postcard mailed?

A postcard is mailed once all available spots are sold. In the event all necessary spots are not sold, all buyers will be notified and refunded.

Postcards are sent to over 4,500 mailable addresses in Denton. To fulfill our promise of reaching 5,000 homes, we select 1-2 additional routes from nearby areas. This approach ensures that you receive additional visibility into different parts of the Eastern Shore.

Won't people just throw away the postcard?

Most postcard mailers are just ads, so they go straight in the trash. The Caroline Thrifty isn't that. We include helpful content to read, such as local events, money and time saving tips, things people care about!

So even if someone doesn't need your business the day it shows up, they might still read the whole thing at the mailbox. Others will set it on the counter or better yet, toss it in that drawer where the "good mail" goes. Either way, it's still in the house, still around when they do need you. Can you say that about Facebook ads?

The postcard is 9x12 and is printed in a glossy 14 point cardstock paper. The ad side contains 16 individual ad spots. Spots may be combined into larger ones for higher visibility.

Do I have to design my ad?

Nope! We can design your ad using a variety of ready made templates that make the best of your brand and offering. We will need some details, like your logo or brand colors before getting started. However, you don't need to have all those details ready when you place an order!

If you prefer to handle every aspect of your ad, please use the dimensions provided above, and use the following guidelines: 

• CMYK color

• 300 DPI is best

• Add a 0.125 bleed around the entire design

• Send as PNG for best quality - JPEG works too

How do I track who scans my QR Code(s)?

You will receive a link where you can track the performance of your QR code over time once the postcard has been mailed out. On this link, you can also download a spreadsheet report (.CSV file) and download your QR code graphic. 

Purchasing ad spot(s)

Visit the Order Your Spot page and review available spot options. Click the Order Now button when you identify the type of spot you want. The Order Now button will lead you to a checkout page where you can provide your business information and process your payment. Available spots for the current campaign will be displayed realtime to ensure no spots are overbooked. 

You can pay via card, ACH (electronic check), and Cash app.
